United Way Completes Allocations Process

Your local United Way has completed its annual Allocations process for 2010. Dozens of volunteers from all areas of the county reviewed nonprofit organizations that would like to receive funding from United Way in the coming year.

In addition to reviewing everything from budgets and audits to financial statements and program descriptions from all nonprofit applicants, volunteer teams also conducted face-to-face interviews with representatives from the various agencies to ensure that every program United Way funds is well managed and getting results. These volunteers then made funding recommendations to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of United Way of Horry County.

"As always, we are scrutinizing every dollar and allocation to see that we achieve the most impact for those in need,” said David DuRant, President of the Board of Directors for United Way of Horry County. “We'll set a very realistic goal for the next campaign and remain confident that our donors will  continue to be as generous as possible.”
